Mr. Laws was born in Syracuse, a son of the late Richard Laws, Sr. He moved to Virginia six years ago where he was employed as a meat cutter for Sam's Club in Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Riffle Butcher Laws; one daughter, Daphne Butcher; one son, Martin Butcher, all of Virginia; his parents, Joyce and Stephen Prosonic of Camillus, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Brianna Nicole Butcher; five sisters, Stephanie A. Prosonic of Colorado, Sharon Robinson of South Carolina, Michelle O'Brien of Rochester, N.Y., Lynette G. Hall of Solvay, N.Y., and Cynthia Laws Briggs of East Syracuse; four brothers, Richard K. Laws, Jr. of Liverpool, Stephen M. Prosonic of Camillus, Jonathan A. Prosonic of Syracuse, and David C. Prosonic of Central Square. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, 4504 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, N.Y. Interment will follow in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery. The family is receiving friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in New York. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Local arrangements by Oakey's Funeral Service.
