She retired from the Wilmington Police Department after 22 years of service, where she was a Civilian Police Aide and Police Matron. She was a member of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughter of Isis, and president of Tenant Council for Baynard Apartments. Ms. Cassidy was the 1995 Ms. Delaware Senior and the 1999 Ms. Delaware America Classic Woman. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter, Christopher and Connie Laws. She is survived by her children, Annette Smith and Henry Laws of Wilmington, DE, Arnold Laws, Sr. of Rancho Cordova, CA; adopted son and daughter, DeJesus Agasto of Wilmington, DE, Deana Lum-Hall of Bear, DE; adopted sisters, Rev. Aretha Morton of Wilmington, DE, Georgia Matthews of Memphis, TN, Barbara Saddler of Bear, DE, Grace Evans of Wilmington, DE, foster brother, Rev. Twin B. Brown; godchild, Kamau Parks of New Castle; devoted niece, Jacqueline Wright; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Saturday, January 20 and from 4-8 pm Sunday, January 21 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1402 N. Market St., where a service will be held at 8 pm on Sunday.
