Cannon Blvd., died Friday (March 2, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord after two years of declining health and two weeks of serious illness. Mrs. Laws was born May 8, 1930, in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Lena Caudle Mullis. Before her retirement in 1994, she was employed with Fieldcrest Cannon for 45 years, first in the Plant 1 pillowcase department and later at Plant 6. She was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church and later attended Charity Baptist Church. Survivors include son Jesse Laws Jr., Kannapolis; daughter Bridgette Bell, Kannapolis; brother Guy H. Mullis, Kannapolis; sisters Pat Kidd, China Grove, Cora Lee Newell, Charlotte, and Betty Toogood, Charlotte; and two grandsons. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Charity Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. R.J. Hammond and the Rev. Raymond Bailey. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitleys Funeral Home.
