He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Harlan County, KY. He moved to Vermilion in 1995 from St. Louis, MO., where he lived for 27 years. He worked was a store assistant manager at "5 and 10" variety stores for J.J. Newberry, in Harlan, KY., and a clerk for Landmark Banks in St. Louis. Survivors include his brother, Lloyd C. Laws of Harlan KY and sister, Marceline Gray of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (nee Shipp) in 1995; his father, Warfield J. Laws, in 1977; and mother, Mary E. Laws, in 1999. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St., Vermilion, with the Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland 44120.
