My great grandfather (was grandson of Bolitha LAWS of VA,and son of Buckner LAWS, also of VA) Charles Howard LAWS, b. 17 Jan 1843 Shelby, Illinois d. 10 April 1923 in McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK. m. 22 Feb 1872 to Nancy Ellen IGO (daughter of John IGO and Eliza HALL IGO of Ohio) b. 31 March 1854 at Circleville, Shelby, OH. d. 1 July 1932 in Houston, Hopkins, TX (both great grandparents are buried in Masonic Cemetery at McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK). Charles and Nancy's daughter, Teresa or Theresa LAWS (dob & dod unk.) m. _______Allen CROUSE (dob unk.), d. ~1938-41 in Lone Pine, Inyo, CA - his first name may have been Sylvester. Two of their children: my father, Leon C. b. 10 Sept 1910 in Sedgwick, Sedgwick, KS and his sister, Geneva Evelyn b. __ Feb 1914 in Arkansas City, KS - later both these children were put into a foster home in Oklahoma City and adopted by separate families, using their new family's names - but finally reuniting in the late 1940s. I know of no other CROUSE siblings and my father and his sister did not divulge any family information or knew little about their original family. My aunt is responsible for my entry into Genealogy due to the questions I asked of her regarding the family. Since then, I have been motivated by stories she told me and assumptions we made together based on some old pictures that were given to her by her adoptive parents. I find it interesting to try to put the puzzle together and try to imagine what they may have been going through in the time period in which they lived. I had a note from Jean Suman in which she in part lists the following: "Elam LAWS was b. abt. 1782 in Billerica, Middlesex, MA. He died Nov 1826 in Rush Co., IN. He married Sarah "Sally" HOSLEY 18 Aug 1805 Plymouth, Windsor, NH. They had three children in VT. Elam, Jr., Sally, Jr., and John. They moved to Franklin Co. OH where they had four more: Joseph, Job, and twins James (her great grandfather) and Elizabeth before moving to Indiana. "James LAWS was b. in Franklin Co., OH on 20 Dec 1820. He died 21 April 1878 in Ottowa, Franklin, KS. He married Mary Ann "Polly" LOWE on 11 May 1845. They later moved to Illinois where he joined the Union Army and served in the Civil War. They had eleven children: Amanda, Matilda, Nancy Ann, William Henry, Margaret Ellen, Vincent William, James Milton, Oscar Columbus, James Robert and (her grandmother:)Mary Ledoska LAWS." Perhaps this will be of help to you or any others who might be searching this line. If you care to contact me for additional information. Anne Mego
