Cannon Blvd., died Friday (March 2, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord after two years of declining health and two weeks of serious illness. Mrs. Laws was born May 8, 1930, in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Lena Caudle Mullis. Before her retirement in 1994, she was employed with Fieldcrest Cannon for 45 years, first in the Plant 1 pillowcase department and later at Plant 6. She was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church and later attended Charity Baptist Church. Survivors include son Jesse Laws Jr., Kannapolis; daughter Bridgette Bell, Kannapolis; brother Guy H. Mullis, Kannapolis; sisters Pat Kidd, China Grove, Cora Lee Newell, Charlotte, and Betty Toogood, Charlotte; and two grandsons. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Charity Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. LAWS LENOIR - Plummie Greene Laws, 70, of Buttercup Lane, died Feb. 25, 2001, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late William R. and Bessie Combs Greene. A member of Setzers Creek Baptist Church, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Ray Laws; three brothers, Ernist Greene, Ray Greene and Ralph Greene; and five sisters, Molley Baker, Dovie Nelson, Rosalee Hart, Mattie Barnett and Opal Osborne. Survivors include two sons, Gene Laws and Bryan Laws of Lenoir; a daughter, Betty Laws Rudisill of Lenoir; two brothers, Stanley Greene of Lenoir and Hubert Combs of Asheville; a sister, Mabel Greene McGee of Toledo, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. I use to live in Indiana, but was just starting genealogy at the time and no where near researching the Laws family. The library in Ft. Wayne is the next best thing to Salt Lake City. hi I am seeking info on my Laws family. My g g grandparents John Alfred Laws and Elizabeth Laws (Broxsom) immigrated to Australia in 1889 and settled in Queensland . I have obtained their death certificates on which states that they were both born in 1863 and that John was from Hynford Norfolk and Elizabeth was from Lincolnshire. It also states that John Alfred Laws parents were Thomas Elijah Laws and his wife Emily Elizabeth parents were Robert Sizer and mother of the same name Elizabeth Broxsom I also know that Thomas Elijah Laws was a gardener and they were from the Norfolk region I look forward to any info I receive all the best Jeff Parker
