Karen: Sorry. I have a good line up of The LAW family from about 1650 in Scotland. Back then they spelled it LAWES then later LAWS, then about 1750 in Virginia the family split up and went in every direction. My line held to the LAW spelling but some of them went to the Carolinas and then to Georgia, Alabama, Illnois, and Mo. Now they are all over the U.S. and many still keep the "S" on the name. I have not worked on that part of the family so I can not tell you anything on them. I would imagin it is still our bunch and we probably are connected if you could go back another generation or two. We have resenrttly come out with a computer disc of the LAW Family History. It has about 18,000 names on it. We sell it for $10.00 each if you are interested, just send a check to Merril Law, 2200 Greentree N. apt 1111. Clarksville In 47129. We started with a book in mind but it soon became too much for a book. it would have been 8" thick. Next book will pick up the LAWS. Sorry. MERRIL

MILLENNIUM LAW A new CD-ROM disk has been published on the LAW family genealogy. It contains the collected works of three LAW family genealogists (Merril Law, Fran Roberts, and H.A. Tony Wood), all of whom did their research over the last ten to twenty years. The LAW family, with roots in Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Kansas, is traced to about 1690. This is one of the most complete sets of LAW family genealogy, stories, and photographs collected to date, especially since the disk includes the text of two notable books: 1. The Laws of the Land by Merril Law (now out of print) 2. Our Laws Across America by Fran Law Roberts (recently published) The contents of this disk are as follows: I. The newly revised electronic version of Laws of the Land originally published by Merril Law in 1995 ( Note: This text is out of print. ) II. Our Laws Across America edited by Fran Roberts -2000 ( Note: This new publication is available directly from Fran Roberts in hardbound copy by contacting her at robertsfl@brandons.net ) III. Hello List! All Laws GenConnect Boards (Queries, Biographies, Obituaries, Wills, etc.) have now been combined into one large Rootsweb Message Board. [You may need to cut and paste this link because it's long] http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.laws&o=1&maxrows=25&dir=next When you post, be sure you select a Classification from the drop-down list where you can select: Bible, Biography, Birth, Cemetery, Census, Death, Deed, Immigration, Lookup, Marriage, Military, Obituary, Pension, or Will. If you do not make a selection, it will be assumed that your post is a Query. Birth means you are posting birth information - NOT looking for birth information. Same for death, deed, immigration, marriage, pension, will. Please also indicate in the subject line what kind of message you are posting (example: Obit). This will make it easier to review the message board since all types of messages are "lumped" together in the list. Give it a try and see what you think. Eventually you will see the posted messages on the list - that function isn't working right now. Thanks! Linda Tremble Schwartz Laws Board Admin
