My great grandmother, BETTIE COLEY LAWS, was the dau of THOMAS W. LAWS and CAROLINE MANGUM, probably of Hillsborough, North Carolina. This is information based on informal notations in a family bible. BETTIE COLEY LAWS (b.11/2/1850) married FRANCIS JAMES TILLEY, of Orange County, NC, January 7, 1880. She died shortly after the birth of her fourth child on 7/10/1885 and was buried in the Waller-Tilley Cemetery in Granville County. I last reported this data to this discussion group two years ago. Anyone know these people? William Hinshaw

My great-great-great grandfather was: LAWS, John Birth: MA 13 Jul 1748 Service: MA Rank: Pvt Death: NH 1 Oct 1800 (this date may be incorrect) Patriot Pensioned: No Widow Pensioned: No Children Pensioned: No Heirs Pensioned: No Spouse: Sarah Spaulding I know he was at Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston. He was given a winter coat for his service. I do not have a definite date of death, Nor know where he and Sarah were buried. However, I believe he died after the 1810 Census was taken. Unless there was another John Laws over 45 in Sharon, Hillsborough, NH, when the census was taken. He and Sarah had eight known children: Sarah, Sally (died as an infant), Elam (my ancestor), Sally, Francis, Betsy, Betty, and James. My grandmother, Mary L. Laws, was John's great-granddaughter. If anyone else is related to this Laws family, I would like to hear from you. I have several generations of this family. Jean Suman
