    3. I think this should have been sent to the Law list as well, so here goes - hope it goes through. Thanks in advance for picking up any bricks you see missing! Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: Anne Mego To: BLias@aol.com Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2001 7:33 AM Subject: Re: [LAWS-L] William Laws, Whitley Co. KY Beth, Thanks for your prompt reply about your Charlie Laws. He doesn't fit my Charles' criteria. My Charles H. Laws b. 17 Jan 1844 in Illinois d. 10 April 1923 in McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK - son of Buckner Laws of West VA and Ester Underwood of Ohio. Charles was married to Nancy E. Igo, b. 31 March 1854 in Circleville, Ohio, d. 1 July 1932 in Houston, Harris, TX, bur. McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK - daughter of John Igo of Ohio and Ellen Hall of Ohio. My search of Circleville was based on Nancy Igo's place of birth. When I rechecked my map, I located Circleville in Pickaway County just above Ross County. Thank you for pointing out to me that Shelby County is quite a distance from either of these counties. (Perhaps CRS (Cranial Rust Syndrome) is setting in on this great granny's mind - I cannot remember why or where I came up with Shelby County to begin with unless I was searching for another relative there.) Again, thank you for putting me back on track. Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: BLias@aol.com To: justanz@inreach.com Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2001 5:23 AM Subject: Re: [LAWS-L] William Laws, Whitley Co. KY Hello Anne. Shelby County is some distance from Ross or Pickaway Counties which do adjoin one another. I doubt there were any border changes between Shelby and the other two counties. Charlie Laws was the son of Sophie Laws and her first husband, Liberty Thomas. He was born in Whitley County, KY on May 5, 1914. He took the name Laws when he was adopted (formally or informally) by Sophie's parents. He had a brother, Eddie U. Thomas who was adopted outside the family and took the name Walter Carrol. Charlie moved to Shelby County, Ohio with his family and to my knowledge lived his life there or nearby. Two of the Laws sons moved away; William Harvey Laws went to Rochester, NY, and Thomas (Coy) Laws moved to Florida. All of them remained in close contact with the family in Ohio. I don't know what all the Laws sons did for a living several of them were Ministers (Coy, Ancil, Everett and maybe another one). Hope this helps. Beth

How long has it been since you talk with Robin??? she has a web site for the laws ,you might want to check with her again, and in the mean time i will keep looking. we can find this all if we will keep hiting our head up against the wall. hope you and your family has good hoildays. 2. Hi Betty. I have seen some of your postings and have exchanged information with your cousin Marlin and with Robin Carmichael about John and Polly Macnelly Laws. If I can prove that my William is the same William that is the son of James, we might we able to establish a connection. Although Robin got your John Laws' death certificate and found that his father is Douglas Laws. Don't know how Douglas fits into the family tree either! We'll have to keep picking away at this brick wall and maybe we can get over it and find we are related. Beth

    3. Beth, and Laws Listers, Do you have any information about the Laws family while they were in Shelby County, Ohio? I have a Great grandfather, Charles Howard Laws, b. 17 Jan 1844 in Illinois d. 10 April 1823 in the Oak Hill/Masonic Cemetery in McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK, served in Co. H 54 Ill Vol. Inf., (Veteran of Civil War), son of Buckner Laws, b. ? of WVA and Ester/Hester Ann Underwood, b. ? in Ohio). Charles may have had a brother named Holland S. Laws. Holland's widow, Rebecca, was also living at the widow, Nancy E. Igo Law's residence in McAlester, OK according to the Pittsburgh County Census of April, 1910. Charles married (date and place unk. - probably in Circleville, Shelby, OH) Nancy E. Igo, b. 31 Mar 1855 in Ohio, d. 1 July 1932 in Houston, Harris, TX, bur. 2 July 1932 in Oak Hill/Masonic Cemetery in McAlester, Pittsburgh, OK, dau of John Igo and Ellen Hall, both of Ohio. Their daughter, my Grandmother, Teresa/Theresa Myrtle Laws Crouse, was 19 years old and living in her mother's home in McAlester, OK during the Pittsburgh County April 1910 Census, just a few months before my father, Leon Clifford Crouse was born on 10 Sept 1910 in Sedgewick, Sedgewick, KS. He and a sister, Evelyn, were put into a foundling home and later adopted by separate families. Years later, they located Teresa in California, but I am not sure where she was living at the time. I saw her in Sacramento, CA when I was a little girl but I didn't know that she was my grandmother until many years later and by then the sands of time had begun to cover up any trail she may have left behind. She may have remarried, perhaps several times. She has been very elusive as has been my Grandfather, Allen Ambrose Crouse (date and place of birth unk. - believe he died in Lone Pine, Inyo, CA in late 1930's according to story from my deceased Aunt, but I have not been able to prove.) Would appreciate any information that might help to put some of these pieces of the puzzle together. Thanks in advance, Anne Mego ----- Original Message ----- From: <BLias@aol.com> To: <LAWS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 10:25 AM Subject: [LAWS-L] William Laws, Whitley Co. 3. I haven't posted my line in quite a while. Here are the loose ends as they have stood for nearly three years: John A. Laws - born December 25, 1830 in Lancashire, England. Immigrated to the U.S. sometime prior to September 18, 1851 when he was married in Ann Arbor, MI. I have no information about his family in England. Cecil Laws married Sylvia Heald, date unknown, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
