Laws, 82, 1100 W. 15th, who died Monday, Aug 27, 1990, at Ottawa Retirement Village, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Jerrald R. Harnden officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Born Jan 18, 1908, at Princeton, she was the daughter of Joseph Franklin and Lottie Mae (Purdy) Pear. She married John Franklin Laws Nov. 21, 1929, at Burlington. He died Oct. 11, 1969. She grew up in the Princeton area and attended Ohio City Grade School. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1927. She then attended Ottawa Business College. She worked at Ottawa Hardware before her marriage, after which she and her husband lived in Ottawa until moving to Princeton in 1932. In 1941 they moved to Williamsburg. She returned to Ottawa in 1970. She was a homemaker and worked as an aide in the laboratory at Ransom Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, was a member of the church's What-S0-Ever Sunday School Class and was active in church circles. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Holman, Lee Summit, Mo., and Janie Sellers, 1316 S. Oak; a son, John F. "Jack" Laws, LaCyne, two step-daughters, Naomi Gossett, DeBary, Fla., and Ruth Riley, Nampa, Idaho, 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests that First United Methodist Church be beneficiary of memorial contrbutions, which may be left in care of the church or funeral home.

OSCAR LAWS Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Lebo Methodist church for Mrs. Oscar Laws, who passed away Sunday morning. Rev. G. H. Pittman pastor at the Harford Methodist church, officiated with interment in Lincoln cemetery. Laurence Standiferd sang "Mr Work Is Done," and "Beautiful Isle." Rev. G. H. Pittman sang "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Morris Ott was accompanist. Casket bearers were all grand-sons and were Wilber Rosine, Lewis Laws, Joe Courtney, Irvin Courtney, Jack Courtney and Lyman Selig. Lizzie Louise, daughter of Regula and Samuel Strife, was born on October 5, 1869, on a farm near the Old Mission House an Indian school at Quenemo, Osage County, Kansas, and passed away May 12, 1946, near Lebo, Kansas, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 7 days. She attended school at Quenemo during early childhood and at the age of 14 years was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church. She was married to Oscar Laws at Lyndon, Kansas, September 1, 1886 and for two years, lived near Halls Summit, Kansas. During the following nine years their home was established at Melvern, Kansas, and beginning in 1897, the home was started at Lebo, Kansas where she continued to live for the remainder of her life, a total of 49 years. To this union were born 13 children, all of whom are living with the exception of two: John Gilbert, who died at the age of five in the year of 1894 and Minnie, who died at the age of 35 years, in the year of 1922. Lizzie Louise and Oscar Laws would have completed sixty years of successful and happy married life, September 1, 1946. Although having a large family of her own, Mrs. Laws was never too busy with her many duties to volunteer her help for her friends and neighbors when needed. She was always known to have the qualities of faithfulness and Kindness and one who enjoyed her family and home life. She was respected by all and was a dutiful wife and mother. There survive, her husband, Oscar Laws; eleven children, 23 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. There are 7 sons-in-law and 3 daughters-in-laws. Also there are one sister, Mrs. Mary Hites of McPherson, Kansas, one half sister and five half brothers. The surviving children are: James E. Laws: Hartford, Mrs. Mattie Funk, Emporia; Mrs. Susie E. Lohmeyer, Reading; Mrs. Nellie M. Selig, Osage City; Mrs. Katie P. Nelson, Hartford; Mrs. Irena Rosine, Lebo; Earl S. Laws, Emporia; Raymond M. Laws, Lebo; Mrs. Laura Bell Erickson, Kansas City, Inez Bernice Laws, Kansas City, Mrs. Josephine Eggleston, Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Miss Bernice Laws and Mrs. Carl Erickson and family, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eggleson, Medicine Lodge, Kansas; Mrs. J. W. NANCY PARSE 94, DIES AT OTTAWA Mrs. Nancy Parse, 94, widow of a Civil War veteran, Peter Parse, died Wednesday night, March 21, 1945, at Ransom Memorial hospital in Ottawa. She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Dean Blackstein of Route 2, since 1928. Nancy Laws was born April 18, *1850 in Rush county, Indian, the daughter of James *M. and *Sarah Ann (Lowe) Laws. Relatives of Mrs. Laws came to this country in the *Mayflower. Miss Laws and Peter Parse were married November 1, 1866 at Prairie City, Ill. He died in 1928. Mrs. Parse went to the Blackstein home from Rosemont and Agricola neighborhoods, where her husband farmed. Surviving relatives are the daughter, three brothers, Vince and James Laws, Hartford; Oscar Laws, Lebo and Mrs. Mary L. Dickson, Rosemont and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Parse was a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral is to be at the Dengel-Towner Colonial Chapel this afternoon at 2 p. m. Rev. J. H. Reid of Ottawa Free Methodist church is to officiate and interment will be in Agricola cemetery. Mrs. Asa Blackstein is a niece and she and Mr. Blackstein went to Ottawa for the funeral. Note: *These are probably errors. Records show she was born in 1849. There are no records to show a middle initial for her father James, and her mother's first name was Mary not Sarah. It may be wishful thinking, but nothing has been found to show she was descended from ancestors, who came to this country on the Mayflower.
