Would you have any information on a Martha Laws from KY that married Asey Hampton? My Grandfather was John Lawes/Laws. The spelling has gone back and forth. He married my Grandmother in Ky.
I'd be glad to check my info on your Laws as mine was George W.Laws md in 1879 in Carter,Tn to Caldonia Oaks. will see what can find for you. Dawn"Morningstar"Trent
Thanks for that suggestion, Estelle. Have you (or anyone else out there) done a complete census search of the Laws in TN? I still have never located my mother-in-law's folks in the NC census prior to 1900 yet the listings in 1900 and beyond all indicate they were born in NC. I have always been told they were from Yancey County, NC and I find them in some of the records there, but in these years (1850-1880), they do not show up anywhere in NC, so I have always figured they drifted back and forth across the line into TN. I don't have access to TN census records. If anyone has done a complete Laws search in TN, could you please check for the following family? Note: I have little information on this family, so I am sure what I have is NOT complete. If anyone knows of any other children, please let me know. Hi! Laws folks: I'm still trying to find the parents of my Selim C. LAWS (born 1816 in North Carolina). I came across an interesting name -- a Sela LAWS of NC. This Sela LAWS was born in 1814 in Wilkes County, and married Jeremiah HAMPTON, Jr. in 1829. This Jeremiah HAMPTON's mother was also a LAWS. Interesting! My question - the name Sela and the name Selim - female and male names, are so close -- could my Selim be a brother of this Sela? Help!!

Opal Gardner married my great uncle, Osso Laws. Osso was born September 2, 1901 in Richland Co., IL. He had a twin brother Osso who never married. Opal was Osso's second wife. His first wife, Genelle Stallsworth died of uremic poisoning during a pregnancy. After being single for several years, he married Opal. My aunt says they raised her brother's daughter, Mary Catherine. Do you know anything about that? Osso was my grandfather's, James Lindsey, younger brother. Their parents were Squire Ranicont Laws and Susan Arabell Webber. I have more info on the Laws and Webber families if you are interested. E-mail me at cd.morgan@verizon.net . I also have Campbell in my line through my grandmother. Her mother was Nora Campbell who married Charley Kimmel. I have not gotten back too far on that side. Nora's parents were James Campbell and Polla (Polly) Ann Watkins. Does this fit with any of yours? I would be interested in having more info about Opal including dates, etc. sent to me. Thanks--Carlene Laws Morgan

I have the sheet music for The Doggie in the Window and it says, "words and music by Bob Merrill". It was copyrighted in 1952 by Santly-Joy, Inc., 1619 Broadway, New York, NY. Carlene Laws Morgan cd.morgan@verizon.net
It is my believe that Bob Merrill has the distinction for that song.
