I'm descended from Charles Law who immigrated from West Riding, Yorkshire, England in 1857. He settled in Utah and married three sisters: Emma, Elizabeth, and Hannah Bocock. He died in 1862 and all three sisters remarried. Most of the Laws I have met in the intermountain west have been descendants of this Charles, but not all. I am descended through Hannah's third child, Isaac Brough Law. Are you connected to this family?

I don't want anyone to think they are limited to posting queries on the list. Any information related to the research of the LAW/LAWS, etc. family is certainly relevant. So, unless this is a file attachment, why don't you go ahead and post to the entire list. If it IS a file attachment, please let us know and we can contact you privately to receive it. I would certainly be very interested in receiving that. I am trying to find the family of Eleanor Laws, b. probably around 1690, m. Robert Alexander Edwards possibly in Scotland. Details are very vague. The Laws family name carried down as a given name (grandaughter named Eleanor Laws Edwards.) Thank you for help. Mary K. Rau, Virginia Beach, VA <[email protected]>
Hello Jean, Yes, *please* send me that history info you have on the Law family. My particular branch seems to have emigrated from Scotland to Henrico County, Va. Thanks so much. Hi everyone, This is my first post and a summary of my LAWS ancestors. LAWS, James born abt. 1711 where? We don't know if he was born in this country or was an immigrant. LAWS, Elam born abt. 1782 in Billerica, Middlesex, MA. His parents were John LAWS and Sarah SPALDING. His family moved to Sharon, Hillsborough, NH by 1800. John Hamilton) they were b 1820 in Franklin Co., OH. The family later moved to Rush Co, IN. where Elam d abt. 1826, would like to know where Elam was buried. Guardians were appointed for the four youngest children until they were of age. Also would like to find information on the siblings and their descendants. Family stories say that Elizabeth was killed by lightening in her home. Other stories are that the brothers fought on different sides in the Civil War. James was in the Union army. LAWS, James b 20 Dec He m. Mary Ann "Polly" LOWE 11 May 1845 in Rush Co., IN. They moved to IL. and then to KS. James d. 21 Apr 1878 in Franklin Co., KS. Thanks, Jean Suman [email protected] If any of the above, fit with the families you are researching, please advise.
