Cardin and Gary Joiner. I'll try not to make any mistakes but all info and dates should be checked carefully. William Henry King born 7/28/1828 in Madison County, AL. Second child of Whilliam Whitfield and Susan Chenault King. Brothers were Charles R., Stephan Corodan, Thomas Whitfield, Sherman H. and Gabriet Davy King. Sisters Elizabeth Helen, Mary Merab, Penelope Caroline, Lucretia Jane and Julia Ann King. Moved to Bossier Parish Louisiana between 1850-1851. His father died in Bossier Parish 12/6/1851. Charles R. was originally appted. WWK's administrator but was sued by Susan Chenault for WHK's removal as administrator due to his not settling account. WIlliam Henry married Balsona Elena Kennard in Rusk County Tx. on 8/31/1854. Wife was born Feb. 10, 1837 in Lownds Co., MS. WH King entered Civil War 5/7/1862 with Marks' Guard! s (Company B, 28th LA) and served until war ended. Charles R. King married Mary J. Lawrence (Lorance) 3/29/1855. Charles died May, 1860 and William served as tutor for their child Alice R. King. Mrs. Mary R. King remarries J.B. Cavett 2/9/1862 just months prior to men leaving for war. Mary lived with her mother-in-law to be Mr. E.E. Cavett for two years prior to marrying her son. Thomas Whitfield King born circa 10/26/1843 and died 2/13/1924. No record of marriage. Stephen C. King born circa 1842. Married a McLeish (sister of Wm. N. Doles wife). Reported that Stephen King badly abused wife and when he threatened family and came to get her was shot by "Bill" Doles. Died Jan, 1888. Lucretia Jane King married James P. Strayhan (1829-1909). Son S.R. Strayhan. Lucretia died 1870. Caroline P. King marries Lysander Rathburn 3/14/1852. Rathburn dies (no date). Caroline marries a Martin, and has a child named Lucy R. Martin. Martin dies and she marries Alexander Wil! liamson and has a daughter Mary Alice. Caroline dies before 10/23/1858. William H. King's first wife Balsona Elena Kennard King dies 12/2/1883 in Montague County, Texas and is buried in Hardy Cemetery. W.H. King returns to Shelby County, Texas and marries his wife's sister, Mary Elizabeth Kennard Tims. They live in Montague County, Texas and divorce on 7/20/1899. W.H. King dies 9/7/1903 and is burried in Sappington Chapel Cem. near Cowden, OK. His diary is sold to the Texas Library Archives in 1943 by Mrs. C.M. Armstrong. King was a resident of Shelby County Texas but his mother, brothers and sisters lived mear Collinsburg, LA. He chose to return to Bossier Parish to volunteer his service during the Civil War. He joined "Marks Guards" officially designated as Co. B, 28th LA Reg. The Co became part of Mouton's Brigade, Polignac's Div. and served under Col. Henry Gray. His diary records the time from 4/30/1862 until 1/8/1864. He served most of the war as a guard and! clerk in Shreveport. I hope this info will be of help to someone. The only King's I know of in my line married my grandmother's (Lola B. McCann) sister (Palestine McCann King) and so are not directly related to me.
