Does anyone have proof that a Mary Parker was married to Claibourn Laurence.? It has been suggested that she was second wife of Claibourn, first wife being Mary Hudspeth. The children listed by the Stamps family, on Ancestry are George and Tabitha Laurence. In the 1790 U.S. Fed Census ( and by the way its great) Surry Co NC shows a Mary Hudspeth On one side of her is a James Chappel, and on the other side is Zacahariah Spaulding(I think is the way, last name is spelled) It says that she has 1 free white male under 16 and 1 free white female, including heads of families. Mary's mother was Mary Stamps- that is the Hudspeth family. she died aft 1817 Her husband died abt. 1805 in VA *** (this info provided by Stamps family also on Ancestry) also in 1790 Surry Co VA is a Claibourn Laurence listed with him is 1 free white male of 16 yrs and upward, including heads of families; 1 free white male under 16; 3 free white females, including heads of families; and 1 slave On one side of him is Solomon Holder or (n); other side is Francis McCrain Also listed on this page are Benjamin Humphries, David Humphries, Joseph Harvey; You would think it was in alphabetical order until you see several names of other families that don't start with H, in the middle of all these.
