For anyone in the New England area, they are available in the New England Historical Genealogical Society library in Boston. The three books are: Historical Genealogy of the Lawrence Family by Thomas Lawrence 1858, The Family of John Lawrence by Rev. John Lawrence 1869, and Major Samuel Lawrence of Groton, Massachusetts by Robert Means Lawrence 1904. The most well known (perhaps infamous) is the John Lawrence book which purports to record the ancestors and descendants of John Lawrence of Wisset, Suffolk, England from around 1600. The ancestry part is recognized as false, but much of the descendant information is traceable to various town, church, cemetery, etc. records in Massachusetts and other New England states. The John Lawrence book is out of print, but available in photocopy through the NEHGS or probably directly from the publisher (Higgins, I think) or from used book sellers on the net. I believe the others are also available the same way. Gordon Lawrence
