I feel that the information that can be glean from the "Victoria History of Lancashire" provides a descent for Ashton Hall for some Lawrence lines. From what I have interpret from that sources and other sources that Schuyler Lawrence provides in his bibliography, other sources I have found such as Nichols' "Herald and Genealogist" provides the best proof that can found concerning Ashton Hall descent. When I visited Ashton Hall in Oct. 2000, there was also a pedigree chart hanging on the wall in the dining area that included the Lawrences, photo of it on my web page but a little hard to read due to light reflection off the glass. I feel that what is presented on my web page is about as accurate as has been found. I am always open to corrections and discussion on this subject. There are some inaccuracies in Schuyler's work but it is more reliable than Somerby's. One of the biggest hoaxes, however, appears to have been the connection between the Lawrences and the Townley estate. As far as I can determine this was completely incorrect....
