The title is " The Southern Branch of the Lawrence Family" by William Pritchett. As far as I know John Bankston Lawrence lived in Sevier Co. After the outbreak of the civil war, and a short term in the militia, he was conscripted into the Confederate Army. He deserted and hid out in caves until he could make his way north and joined the Union Army only coming out for supplies which he recieved from family members who were northern sympathizers.
