Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DAw.2ACIB/2270.2 Message Board Post: I have the records of Josiah's Revolutionary War experiences. In addition, I possess copies of two separate DAR applications outlining his service. Actually, Josiah Sr. was called to service and Josiah Jr. replaced him on occasion. He was a soldier in Captain Samuel Robinson's Company in 1780 and Captain William Hutchins Company in 1781. Proof of service was furnished by an Edward Baker, Assistant Adjutant General in charge of War Records Vermont in the Revolution, at the time of this application. "Josiah Lawrence Jr. served three days upon an alarm on October 11, 1780 in Captain Samuel Robinson's Company (p221). Josiah Lawrence served from August 16, 1780 to November 21, 1780 in Captain Eli Noble's Company (p203). Josiah Lawrence served from January 1, 1781 to November 18, 1781 in Captain William Hutchins(pp 297-568)" I also have a hand written COPY of Josiah's application for a pension as a revolutionary war soldier. If you don't have this or would like to see it, send me a note Email. I am currently researching through Y Chromosome markings in the DNA of two direct line descendants. One from the Josiah line and one from a John Lawrence (1746) line in an attempt to clarify earlier ancestor differences.
