He was born in Glens Falls on June 16, 1945, the son of the late Ted and Blanch (Charlebois) Lawrence. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969. John was a mechanic for Fort Edward Express prior to opening J.M. Truck Service in Plattsburgh. He was most recently employed with Northeast Concrete in Plattsburgh. John was a member of Plattsburgh Moose Lodge 2390 and American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt Sr. Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Carol Lawrence of Peasleeville, John Jr. and Tammy Lawrence of Plattsburgh and Kim and John Costello of Plattsburgh; his wife, Carol (Blow) Lawrence of Plattsburgh; three grandsons, Brendan, Kyle and Tyler; one sister; six brothers; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Members of Plattsburgh Moose Lodge 2390 will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Members of American Legion Post 1619 will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with the Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH chaplain, officiating. Donations in John's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
