    3. Would you be kind enough to have a look at your EARLY RECORDS to see if, by chance, you have a Susannah ________ who married Joseph Lawrence, we believe somewhere in Mass...They lived in that area prior to 1764 when Hammond Lawrence was born. Later they were at Athol, Mass....- so presumably she may have been born around 1744/5......Any news of her will be greatly appreciated. We seek her maiden name. I may just be spinning my wheels when I do this but I always try to contact the submitter and notify them of the error. I've done this probably a half a dozen times or so and I've always gotten a positive response. I think people are in such a hurry to add numbers to their family tree that they don't bother making sure it's correct. I am glad to know that I am not the only one who thinks this way. Agree with you about the way things are done. People just take the "easy way out" in doing the research. Also, they do not answer your messages either directly or on the boards. I started out when they did not have the on line services, just the "slow mail" and even then people would not answer you even though you included a SASE with it. Chris

I find that the new software at Ancestry.com allows anyone to change info on a line. I have found that someone has completely changed info on one of my grandmothers which is totally incorrect. On a grandfather someone changed his death date to 14 years before he was born. I am seriously considering removing my info completely. I had previously found much of the info at these various sites to be helpful, even though I always independently verify it. But I agree with this posting completely. Not everyone checks their facts and now they are changing verified facts to fit their personal fiction. Charlene

Surnames: Lawrence, Merrick Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DAw.2ACIB/2280 Message Board Post: Hello, I just got finished checking out RootsWeb's World Connect Project for Gidion Lawrence. I found on quite alot of his lines that he was married married and died on the same date August 01, 1738. Sometimes this happans, but not if you are going have eight children after that date. I would not be here if he died when they say he did. Because I descend from his daughter Suanna Lawrence, who married Charles Merrick. I have seen so much miss information that Ihas been submitted, such as this over the years. One last question. Does anyone ever check and find the proof of the information that they submitt? When they do this, it just makes it harder for people to find the truth. I know that I have gotton on the "soap box" to let out my views on the subject. But are those out here that like to find the correct information, if possible. Chris

Hi, My Elisha Lawrence (2/17/1666) married Lucy Stout (b. 1675) on 1/12/1692 in Monmouth Co., NJ. Elisha's parents were William Lawrence (b. circa June 1630 possibly in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England) & Elizabeth ?? They spent some time in Middleborough, Long Island, NY, as their at least 2 of their children (#2 Hannah & #4, Elisha were born there). It is extremely possible that one or more branches moved to the South at some point. But our direct line stayed in the NJ area. Sorry if this doesn't help you. But if anyone on the list finds any of these names "familiar," please contact me & perhaps we can compare notes. Thanks, Ana Ryan
