    3. Richard Sorry, but Colonel Richard Lawrence of Staten Island didn't marry an Earle daughter. He married first, Mary Leggett then second, Elizabeth Oakley (Mudge). Justus earle married Richard Lawrence's daughter Anna and they moved to New Brunswick, Canada. I have been unable to place Thomas Lawrence/Laurence in this family yet. Yes there are several and a couple of them apparently married Leggett's. I believe the original Trinity Church burned down and I have details in my files somewhere, there are also records missing from the Revolutionary period and I have an article that states that the Minister of the Church and it's Loyalist congregation all left New York and he took the records with him!. He ended up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I will dig this info up and let you know. I gleaned the articles from books when I visited the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. THe New York, Long Island and Staten Island Lawrences are difiicult to research. Colonel Richard Lawrence was born in Hackensack, New Jersey. His father was John Lawrence from Long Island and his mother was Anna Edsall from Hackensack, New Jersey. THis family disappears after a daughter was born in New Jersey and I believe they lived in New York somewhere but they are hard to find. I never got a message that a reply had been posted to me message. I do not have a lot of information on Jason Lawrence. What I do know is he was born in Vermont in 1809 (per the 1860 and 1880 census). He was the son of Asa Lawrence and Susan Beggins I am told but have not found anything to back that up other than word of mouth. Jason and his wife Mary Ann Cutler (born 2/14/1814 in Upper Jay New York) had 11 children and he passed away 9/29/1882 in Wilmington , New York. Hope this of some help. I too am looking for any information on Asa as his history is a bit cloudy.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DAw.2ACIB/2297.1 Message Board Post: I have Lawrence ancestors from Patoka, Illinois. Here is some history I have posted about them on another website: I am stuck at finding where in Virginia (or possibly North Carolina) the Lawrences came from....... Here is the summary of the information of the Lawrences of Fayette/Marion County, Ill. that I have so far.........If you have information please let me know of any possible connections.........It's pretty exciting to find others doing similar Lawrence research!!!!! My ggg grandfather was William T. Lawrence....He was born in Virginia in 1817, and somehow arrived in the Vandalia, Ill area by 1839, where he married Amanada Maria Phipps..........They had several children (i.e., Mary, William Harry Harrison, and Margaret)............William T, died in 1856....... William Harry Harrison was my gg grandfather, and was born near Vandalia in 1843......He married Caroline Wilson, and had several children, including William A., Mary, James Martin, Margaret, Eva and Harry Harrison....William H. died in 1880, just months before the birth of his last son, Harry Harrison..... Harry Harrison Lawrence was my great grandfather and was born in 1880 around the Vandalia area........He married Mamie Linton, and they had three children, Clyde, Ruby and Opal.........Harry died in the 1950's in Decatur, Ill. Clyde Lawrence was my grandfather and was born in 1911 around the Vandalia area......He and his parents moved to Decatur, Ill in the 1920's.......While there he married Laura Marie Limes........They had several children including Betty, Gerald, Joanne, Sandy and Sherilyn...............Clyde Lawrence died in 1976.... Gerald Lawrence Sr. was born in 1933 in Decatur, Ill. He married Shirley Williams in 1953 and had 5 children: Rebecca, Gerald Dwayne Jr. (myself), Kimberly, Anthony, and Douglas Harrison....... I am stuck at trying to find out where in Virginia my ggg grandfather William T. Lawrence was born.......All I know is that he was born there and arrived in Illinois by 1839........ I also know there were other related Lawrences in the Fayette / Marion County, Ill. area, because in the 1850-1890 censuses there is a John T. Lawrence who is also mentioned in Land deals with my ancestors (i.e., William Harry Harrison Lawrence), but I am not sure how he is related......I do know John T. was born in Virginia around 1835, married Narcissus Washburn, and had children, Mary, Susan, Maria, Abbey, James E., Hester E., John Thomas and William Ezra.........He died in the late 1890's. There was also a James E. Lawrence in the Fayette County, Ill. censuses of this time who died in 1868....I do not know when or where is was born.........His wife was Julia Agnes, and they has several children...His children includes Sarah, Susan, John S., William N., Amanda M., Simeon J. and Hester A....... There was also Yelverton Peyton Lawrence, from Tennessee, who moved in with my ggg grandfather William T. Lawrence, in the 1840's (he is listed as living with William T. in the 1850 Fayette County census).....Y.P. married Sarah Yolton, had children, and died while residing around the Vernon, Illinois area in 1914....he is buried in Meador Cemetary in Vernon, Ill.: Row G 4.
