Hi My dad was in Ohio when his first wife died. He settled in Pgh., Pa. after coming to USA from Poland. Never heard of any relatives in Ohio and wonder why he was there. His first wifes name was Helen as is my mothers. He came to the USA around 1915 and he and his first wife had two sons, Henry and Stanley. His first wife died of a stroke in 1931. Just wondering if anyone in Ohio has any info on my dad. I have seen Lawrence spelled Laurence and Loretz. Found out I am descendant of the Lorentz family. My dads name was Walter (Valentine in Polish) Lawrence. Hope someone from Ohio can help Barb

Hello: I am new to the list and have recently come in possession of some military commissions on two LAWRENCES. The person I am trying to trace is Charles Earl LAWRENCE. I have found information on his parents and siblings, but have not been able to trace him as yet. This is what I have found so far: John LAWRENCE Birth: 10 Apr 1754, Monmouth County, NJ Death: 30 Dec 1821, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Canada Father: William LAWRENCE (1719-1795) Mother: Margaret (Mary) TILTON (1725-?) Spouse: Mary REZEAU (HEREAN)? Birth: 22 Mar 1766 Death: 18 Sept 1842, Vaughan, Upper Canada Married:4 May 1783, Richmond, Staten Island, New York Children: William Henry (1784-) Margaret (1786-) Peter Rezeau (1788-1860) John R. (1791-) Mary (1794-) Alexander Cairns (1796-1879) Elisha (1800-1869) Charles Earl (1802-) Abraham Perine (1805-1886) Elizabeth Ann (1807-) Sarah Catherine (1810-) The commissions I have on Charles are as follows: Assigning Charles E. Lawrence to Ensign dated Nov. 20, 1831; to Captain dated June 8, 1838; and to Major on Oct. 13, 1856 in the 4th Battalion of North York in Toronto, Canada. Since these were in my father-in-law's mother's possession and his maternal grandmother's maiden name is LAWRENCE I can only assume that John & Charles were her ancestors. Any information or help with this search is greatly appreciated. Jan Nordhoff [email protected]

I have been looking for some time now for a Henry Lawrence with no luck. The Ashtabula Co. Ohio Genealogy Society did some searching for me and have found that the name may be Albert Henry Lawrence. Here's what I know as reported to me by the ACGS and some from my own research. Albert Henry Lawrence was born in probably Erie Co. PA, May 31, 1853 to Alvin and Esther Lawrence. He is listed on the 1860 census of Erie Co. PA with these parents as A. Henry age 6yrs. Henry, (as I was referred to him by my late mother-in-law) married Orall A. (Cox) Kidd probably in PA sometime around 1898. Orall A. (Cox) Kidd Lawrence was my late husband's maternal great grandmother. Orall had been married to a Robert Kidd also from PA and had a daughter Lillian Orall Kidd born Dec 4 1888 in McKeesport PA and died in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co. OH on March 17, 1942. Shortly after Lillian was born, Orall Cox Kidd married her second husband who was Henry Lawrence, and he adopted Lillian so she went as Lillian O. Kidd Lawrence. The ACGS found a A. Henry Lawrence listed in the 1910 Ohio census living in Conneaut with Ora A. Lawrence. Henry states that he and his parents were born in PA on this census record. The Conneaut Health Dept. has a death certificate for Albert Henry Lawrence who passed away on August 19, 1935 in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co. OH but his body was taken to Erie Co. PA and buried in the Girard Cemetery beside his wife Nellie. The ACGS further found that Mr Lawrence had married Nellie Minor in 1923 which would have been 2 years after Orall's death. This marriage took place in Ashtabula Co. Ohio. If anyone out there has any connection to this family I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. It is really important to me to be able to put my daughter's ancestry together for them as they are the 5th generation from Orall Cox and as far as I can determine they are the first of those 5 generations that wasn't a single birth family. Orall Cox Kidd Lawrence, her daughter Lillian, Lillian's daughter Virginia, and Virginia's son Dale were all only children families. I can't say for sure about Orall but so far I haven't found any evidence to prove otherwise. By the way Orall was born to Andrew and Anna (Keller) Cox in Massillon, Stark Co. OH according to her death certificate. Thank you so much for any exchange of information you think might remotely connect to this Lawrence family. Mary Griffey Russell, KY
I ran across this one in my Travis/Travers genealogy. If he is yours, you are welcome to him - my line runs with the sister. Travers of Nateby, Arm.,, son and heir married first Elena Haydock, daughter and co-heir of Henry Haydock of Ribleton. She had lands in Ashton, near Preston and in Ribleton. Her sister and co-heir married William Laurence. I do not have a date on this marriage but Travers married for the second time 1342-43. Jane Carver
