Lawrence (age 87 yrs.) 13 Oct. 1979. The obituary for Edwin from the Muskegon Chronicle. LAWRENCE, MR. EDWIN A. 8728 Meade St., Montague Mr Lawrence, age 77 expired Saturday after a lingering illness. Born July 17, 1892, in Chicago, he spent his childhood and attended school there. He married Hazel Eicke in Chicago on May 8, 1915 and they moved to the White Lake area in 1917. Mr. Lawrence was an electrician for many years and from 1924 to 1942 owned and operated the Lawrence Electrical and Plumbing Shop in Montague. He was a life member of Mizpah Lodge 768 F&AM of Chicago and Montague Lodge 404 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, 1 son, Jack, of Milwaukee and 1 daughter, Mrs. Virginia Meyers of Calumet City, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services.....Purdy Funeral Home, Montague According to the Illinois 1900 Federal census: Leland Avenue, Town of Lake View LAWRENCE, S.B. born August 1860 in New York. LAWRENCE, Anna (wife) born April 1861 in Sweden (my ancestor). LAWRENCE, Wilber (son) born August 1883 in Illinois LAWRENCE, Louis (son) born April 1887 in Illinois LAWRENCE, Samuel (son) born October 1889 in Illinois (SSDI - last known residence W. Hartford Connecticut) LAWRENCE, Edwin (son, see above obit.) born July 1892 (SSDI - last known residence Montague Michigan) LAWRENCE, Agnes (daughter) born February 1898 (SSDI - last known residence Wallingford Connecticut - I don't think that Agnes ever married, or if she did, she divorced and went back to her maiden name of LAWRENCE) According to the census there were three other children who were deceased by the time the census was taken. I would really like to find this family. I am pretty sure that I have photo's of them in my g.grandmother's albums. Thank you so much for reading this rather long post.
