I doubt you'll turn up an Augustine Lawrence on a genealogy message board, unless he's deeply interested in genealogy. For someone currently alive, as I have to assume he is, you'd be better off going to the Yahoo "People Search" or searching through some of the on-line phone books. The Yahoo "People Search" allows you to search all the phone listing in the US. I did a quick look there and turned up four of them. So I'd suggest you start there and do some phoning. Hello! I just subscribed, and am at a brick wall with my LAWRENCE ancestor, Sarah LARRANCE/LAWRENCE, b. abt. 1737. She married Recompense THOMAS (b. Jan. 28, 1735). He was born in Ridgefield, Fairfield Co, CT, but I don't know where Sarah was born, or anything else about her, except that she probably died in Rensselaer, Albany Co, NY after 1785. It was discovered recently that her surname was spelled LARRANE in some CT vital records, which I am assuming was a typo, and LARRANCE or LAWRENCE was meant. Haven't been able to find any trace of a surname of LARRANE anywhere, but have found MANY references to a LARRENCE, LARANCE, LARANCE, LARENCE form for LAWRENCE, so I am going to run with that. Has anyone out there any info on Sarah? There are quite a few of us trying to locate her family. Regards, Dale Updike Saskatchewan, Canada
I have a Joseph Lawrence in my family....... which goes like this: Robert Lawrence born in England ca 1640 emigrated to Sandwich, Mass had 7 children ( one was a Joseph who married Hannah Chadwick, the they had a son Joseph who lived in or around Plymoth, Mass back in the early 1700's) However, Robert's son Joshua was my ancestor, and his son was Ebenezer who married Sarah Hammond.......Their son Joseph born 12 January 1738 in Rochester, Mass, moved to Hardwick County, Mass before 28 Dec 1748. This Joseph married Susannah_________ and their children were registered in Athol, Mass. I have been unable to find the surname of Susannah and this drives me crazy!!! nor any marriage documentation. Joseph was a Rev soldier and the family ended up in Vermont which seems a likely area for those emigrating northward to Canada. There may have been other children, but Joseph and Susannah ( both died in Vermont, I believe) were: Levi, Sarah ( my ancestor) John and Nathan. Levi emigrated to Brant/Oxford County in the late 1790's Sarah married James Pelton (they married in Vermont & emigrated viaChateaugay Co. on the s. shore of the St. Lawrence), and in a few years moved westward to Oxford County where bro. Levi had established himself. I hope the above will give you something to go on and if you should come across the surname of Susannah, I would be VERY glad to hear from you. Also, I hope this is the Joseph Lawrence you seek.
