From: August 25, 1949 Winn Parish Enterprise Injuries Fatal To Miss Green, Hit By Car Miss Bettie Green, 65, who received internal injuries when she was hit by a car Sunday night, Aug. 14, after she had alighted from a school bus in front of her home, died at her home Friday afternoon, Aug. 19. The accident was termed "unavoidable," as Miss Green, because of defective hearing, failing to hear or see the approaching car, driven by a negro. A native of Union Parish, Miss Green had made her home in the Joyce and Camp Murray area for the past 35 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Nugent and Rev. Harrison Cockerham officiating. Burial was in Old Corinth Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bill Green, Jack Green, G. W. Green, Travis Hutto, Fred Hutto, Jr., and Walter Denham, Jr., all half brothers or nephews of the deceased. Surviving are three grandchildren, Mrs. Bonner Haynes and Mrs. Bert Haynes of Bluefield, W. Va., __________________ Murray. She also leaves a stepmother, 11 half sisters and brothers, all of Bernice, La.; a son in law, F. C. Hand, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. J. L.
