"Bud" Banks, 71, of Columbia, were held Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Columbia. Mr. Banks was well known in this area, having served its organization in 1939 as a member of the Board of Supervisors of the Dugdemona Soil Conservation District headquartered in Winnfield. He was secretary-treasurer of the board at the time of his death, which came after a long illness. Mr. Banks died Tuesday morning at 5:30 in a Columbia hospital. Officiating at the services was Rev. T. T. Edwards, and among those assisting was Judge Cas Moss of Winnfield. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audie Banks of Columbia, who is daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J. White of Sikes; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Butler of Macon, Georgia, and Mrs. Marie Christie of Bourdeaux, France; three brothers, Fred Banks of Columbia, Dr. Willie Banks of Minden, and Lee Banks of West Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Butler, Columbia, Mrs. A.
