It is said that Pendarvis had attended a dance at the home of Troy Pendarvis Saturday night, and that he was killed when he accidentally kicked a single barrel 12 gauge shotgun, which was loaded with squirrel shot, as he started out of the home of his brother. The hammer of the gun struck the steps, causing the gun's discharge. The full load entered Pendarvis' thigh. Within fifteen minutes, Pendarvis was dead from the loss of blood.
