Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. From: September 13, 1962 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Final Rites Held For Mrs. Sherwood Here September 7 Mrs. W. D. Sherwood, 82, native of Winn Parish, and resident of North Street, died in a local hospital Thursday, September 6, following a few weeks illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Winnfield, and the Rev. Mr. Skinner of Pollock, officiating. Burial was in the Jerusalem Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Oliver Deen, Sherwood Deen, Jack Hyde, Douglas Sherwood, Allen Sherwood, and Don Carroll Sherwood. Mrs. Sherwood was the former Miss Polly Hand, member of a parish pioneer family. She was quite active and made a half-acre garden this spring and summer. She was a member of the Pollock Baptist Church where she visited her daughter quite often. Surviving are five sons, C. E. Sherwood, Winnfield, Elmo of New Orleans, Leck of Bridgeport, Conn., Alon of Texas City, Texas, and Lannis of California; three daughters, Mrs. John Hyde of Pollock, Mrs. Lee Deen of Dry Prong, and Mrs. Conrad Nugent of Albuquerque, N. M.; 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves five sisters, Mrs. Rufus Long of Winnfield, Mrs. Anna Brazzell of Georgetown, Mrs. Nettie Blackstock of Hodge, Mrs. Pearl Watson of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Ocie Hand of Houston, Texas. --------------8BC250E35ECC992273D6CBB8--
