Smith, 41, of Winnfield, died Wednesday as a result of injuries received Sunday afternoon when a pickup truck he was driving ran out of control on Dugdemona dike near Joyce. Also in the truck was Smith's four year old daughter, Ernestine, who is in General Hospital under treatment for injuries received in the accident. Cause of the accident was not known. Some reports stated that a door on the truck came open and Smith reached to shut it to keep the child from falling, when he lost control of the truck. Sheriff C. M. Robinson, who was called to the scene after Smith had been taken to the hospital, said it appeared that Smith, traveling east, has swerved to the right, cut back, and run off the road on the left side. Funeral services are scheduled for Smith today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. in the Jordan Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Jordan Hill Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Jordan Smith; two sons, Marlin and Marvin; two daughters, Irma Jean and Ernestine; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Smith of Winnfield, Route two; one brother, Julius of Winnfield; and six sisters, Mrs. Vernon King, Mrs. E. O. Womack, Mrs. Willie Broadway, all of Route two, Mrs. C. Riley, Yazoo City, Miss., and Mrs. Odis Lasyone, Midland, Texas. --------------0757FFEC45C11771BA366088--
