Afternoon Funeral services for Dr. Dan Wade Kelly, 73, Oak Grove physician, who succumbed in a serious illness at his home Tuesday afternoon, were held at the First Methodist Church, Winnfield, Thursday at 3 p.m. under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Dr. Kelly, native son of Winn Parish, since 1927, had been a prominent practicing physician in Oak Grove until several months ago when he retired because of failing health. He was West Carroll Parish coroner from October, 1945, until late April, this year, when his health prompted him to resign. Survivors include his widow, the former Ethel Campbell of Bolivar, Tenn., whom he married in 1904; one son, Joe T. Kelly, Oak Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Cyrus McGinty, Jr., Lake Charles, and Ms. John T. Lomax, Waynesboro, Miss., and seven grandchildren. Son of thelate Dr.J. F. Kelly and Lillie Wade Kelly of Winnfield, Dr. Kelly was born December 8, 1876. He studied at Louisiana State University and completed his medical course at the University of Nashsville, Tenn. in 1903. After graduation, he located at Selma, La., where he practiced his profession until 1907 when he moved his offices to Winnfield. He lived her until moving his family to Oak Grove in 1927.
