THE WINNFIELD-NEWS AMERICAN Friday, August 5, 1938 Final Rites Held At Dodson For John R. Elliott Widely Known Citizen and Member of Prominent Family Dies John R. Elliott, 77, died Saturday afternoon at the Ruston Lincoln sanitarium after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Methodist Protestant Church. The Rev. I. A. Patton of Monroe, pastor of the church which the deceased was a member and the Rev. S. G. Rodgers of Pineville Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in the New Hope cemetery. The pallbearers were, H. R. Sylvest, A. L. Mixon, W. D. Temple, E. J. Hogan, J. R. Emmons and Wilbur Sholars. Mr. Elliott was a member of the Methodist Church and of Dodson Lodge, No. 289, F. and A. M. Surviving the deceased are his wife; four daughters: Mrs. W. C. Webb, Alexandria; Mrs. C. W. Edwards, Ruston; Mrs. Hugh Larson, Norphlet, Ark; Mrs. L. M. Doucet, Washington; three sons: Elmo Elliott and Ashford Elliott both of Dodson and A. H. Elliott of Alexandria.
