From: August 9, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held for James Mathew Fletcher Funeral services for James Mathew Fletcher, 58, of Verda were held at the Verda Baptist Church Sunday, August 5, at 3 p.m. Rev. Shelton Spears and Rev. Harold Davis officiated at the services and Rev. O'Connor presented the flag at the graveside. Mr. Fletcher died at the Veterans hospital Friday, August 3, after a long illness. Burial was in Iatt Cemetery. A World War I veteran, Mr. Fletcher was born in Winn Parish and made his home in the Verda Community. He was a member of Verda Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tressie Fletcher; one son, Wilmer Fletcher, and his wife, Myrtle Fletcher; one granddaughter, Agneleen, all of Montgomery. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Lucille F. Dyess, Winnfield; Mrs. Inez Wyatt, St. Maurice; Mrs. Hodnett, Colfax; Mrs. Stella Pollard, Dry Prong; two brothers, Warren Fletcher and Gary Fletcher, both of Montgomery; three aunts, Mrs. J. H. Canterbury, Florien, La., Mrs. W. T. Purvis, New Verda, and Mrs. Amanda Gates, Baton Rouge; one great aunt, Mrs. Ann Stevens, Atlanta; one uncle, Selma Spencer, New Verda. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: David McManus, Virgil McManus, Lester Box, Lesley Box, Junior Hale, and Wesley Hale. --------------D3A4B3FBC7AA467A4ADF7FC3--
