Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. From: September 13, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise W. J. Bice, Retired Calvin Merchant Buried Sept. 7 Funeral services for W. J. Bice, 81, retired Calvin merchant who died Thursday after a three months illness, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 1951, at the Calvin Baptist Church. Rev. H. J. Mott, pastor of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church, read the scriptures, and Judge Cas Moss made the remarks on the life of the deceased. Born in Alabama, Mr. Bice had been a resident of Winn Parish since early childhood. The family settled in Couley and Mr. Bice moved to Calvin in 1910 and entered the mercantile business. He was a member of the Baptist church and of the Masonic Lodge, and had served his ward as police juror and as a deputy during his active days in public affairs. He was twice married, first to Miss Velie Teddlie, and following her death, to her sister, Miss Minnie Teddlie, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, A. J. of Calvin and C. C. Bice of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Elmo Anderson, also of Calvin, and one sister, Mrs. W. E. Little of Minden. Acting as pallbearers were Arlin Bice, J. D. Bice, Asa Martin, Eddie Martin, Cecil Martin, Jack Bice, and W. C. Colvin. --------------E1A7905BAA6BB3D38E90F5EF--
