I was able to make contact with a Larry Gates who told me the same information that you did. Fortunately, shortly after my conversation with Larry, I found a descendant of my Henry and Isabelle Whitten and he told me that the Isabelle that married Henry Lilton Whitten was Mrs. Isabelle Sanford Dunn. The lady about whom I was asking was obviously not the daughter of James Newton Gates. Well, now at least I know! Thanks for your help! Mary K. Johnson
