Greetings: Several of us had a very productive meeting today and I will try and give a report of where we are and what we're about to do. We will forward a press release Monday to the Enterprise and to KVCL announcing that we will begin interviewing (we have already completed a few) on Saturday, August 18, at 9 a.m. at the Winn Parish Courthouse. I think the release will also mention that we will interview on the following Saturday, August 25. Several have taken a list of vets and will call them this week to try and get them there, and they will stagger the appointments so we don't have a lot of folks sitting around having to wait. Also, Carolyn Phillips of the museum, furnished a mailing list and ran labels, and we will send a mailout to all vets we have on file who live in Winn Parish, inviting them to attend. We will have about five offices, maybe more, in which to conduct the interviews. We have about eight or ten folks lined up to conduct the interviews. Any of you who are able to come help that day, bring a mini-cassette recorder if you have one, and if not, we will try and get enough on hand to suffice. The WGHA has purchased three and the sheriff's office will loan us a couple. After Saturday the 18th, we will have a little experience and will continue on to the 25th, inviting those who were not able to come on the 18th. We are prepared to work on this project through sometime in October as the material and info will have to be forwarded to Northwestern State University in October for them to transcribe, etc. If anyone on the list who was at today's meeting sees where I have left off any info, please respond to the entire list so everyone will know what I screwed up or failed to screw up.
