Just to let the list know retired 8th Judicial District Judge Hiram J. Wright passed away this afternoon following a lengthy bout with Alzheimer's. Judge Wright was 79 I think. He and Mrs. Wright were members of our genealogy association. Judge Wright served as Winnfield City Attorney and Winnfield City Judge for many years prior to assuming the district judgeship over Winn and Grant Parishes in 1971. He retired in 1984 or 85. He was a longtime active civic and church leader in Winnfield. Judge Wright was an army lt. and was captured by the Nazis in WWII and was in a POW camp for some time, finally escaping. He was a raised in Catahoula Parish and following WWII finished law school and moved to Winnfield to practice law. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Wright, a son Earle, and two daughters, Kathrine and Mary. Arrangements are incomplete. Gregg
