Pearl Dixon was the daughter of W. H. Dixon. She was born abt 1907. Her brothers were O. L, C.H., H. G. and Tommy Dixon. She married Henry Arthur Kieffer, son of Jean Pierre/John Peter Kieffer and Nettie Jane Martin. Their children were Earlene and William Kieffer. John Peter Kieffer is the son of John Kieffer and Sophia Ann Dixon. I feel sure that there is a connection between W. H. Dixon and Sophia Ann Dixon. Does anyone know anything about this family? Thanks, Barbara
Searching for family of Sophia Ann Dixon b. 15 Dec 1844 GA m. John Kieffer buried Clear Lake Cemetery in Natchitoches Parish. Presumably married John in Winn Parish abt 1866. Her first son, Nicholas, was named after his grandfather Kieffer. Her second son, David, could be named after her father or brother. Her eldest daughter, Leah Mary could be named after her mother or sister, these are not Kieffer names. Does anyone have access to her obituary? She died 13 Dec 1929. Who are her siblings? Who are her parents? If there is anyone researching the Dixon or Kieffer family that can be of help to me I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Barbara

Searching for family of Dora A. Carter b. 12 Oct 1867 d. 28 Dec 1913 m. Nicholas Kieffer. Who are her parents? Mittie V. Carter b. abt 1875 d. Feb. 1947. May have been married to David Kieffer (at least a marriage license was issued). She later married George A. Chandler. Mittie could be a nickname for Martha. Who are her parents? Are these women sisters or cousins? Thanks, Barbara Cole

I was able to make contact with a Larry Gates who told me the same information that you did. Fortunately, shortly after my conversation with Larry, I found a descendant of my Henry and Isabelle Whitten and he told me that the Isabelle that married Henry Lilton Whitten was Mrs. Isabelle Sanford Dunn. The lady about whom I was asking was obviously not the daughter of James Newton Gates. Well, now at least I know! Thanks for your help! Mary K. Johnson

The Winn Parish Genealogical & Historical Assoc. will meet this Saturday, Feb. 8th, at 12:30 p.m. in the society meeting room, second floor of the Winn Parish Health Unit, Winnfield. Guest speaker for the program beginning at 1 p.m. will be Lora Peppers, Genealogy Associate at the Ouachita Parish Public Library. Ms. Peppers is compiler of the 3-volume set "To Meet Us On A Blissful Shore: Collected Ouachita Parish Obituaries." she will be speaking about her newspaper indexing project and also about the Genealogy/Special Collections department of the Ouachita Library and what it has to offer. The early Ouachita Parish papers covered many Winn Parish and surrounding area events, and often times fill a gap left by newspaper office fires that destroyed local papers. Also briefly speaking will be Nan Gorton, president of the Northeast LA Genealogical & Historical Society formed in 2001. Ms. Gorton will share some of the things the new society is involved in, including publication of its quarterly journal, "Lost Louisiana". See you Saturday!

My father was born 7 July 1912 as Harry Bishop Truscott but is now known as Harry Herbert Truscott. He did not know he had a middle name until 1970 something after he had taken his own (Herbert) many years before. Redick Blake and Adochia Hiatoni are my Great Great Grand Parents. I have been to that cemetary a few times. It is called Yankee Springs in Goldanna, Louisiana. A few of our relatives still live around there. (I have no record of an Elizabeth Blake) They were married 16 Sept. 1877. I have a DOB on Redick in 4 Feb. 1812, Adochia was born in 1824, no month or day. I hear tell Adochia was full blood Native American. Would love to get info on the Blakes and Garrets. I am looking for more info on the Truscott line also. George Henry Truscott came from London in the 1800's.
