The three-week tour was with a government sponsored agency. Mr. Bencaz traveled in the Northeast, Southeast, and Central parts of China. Points of interest included the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Army and Ming Tombs, The New Dam - Largest man made structure in history, the Three Gorges, Guiolin Mountains, Shanghai, and Bejing including Tiennamen Square and the Forbidden City. The trip also included embroidery making, rug making, Cloisonne jewelry making, pearl harvesting, a tea farm and a silk factory. Chinese artifacts will be shown and time will be allowed for questions. Hyde "Dispelling the Myth of Southern Inferiority" Dr. Samuel Hyde of Denham Springs, a history professor at Southeastern Louisiana University and director of the Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies will speak on "Dispelling the Myth of Southern Inferiority" at the Livingston Parish Library in Livingston at 6:30 PM Tuesday, Nov 12, 2002. An authority on the history of the Florida Parishes, Dr. Hyde is the author of Pistols and Politics and Plain Folk of the South Revisited.
