The museum, which recently hosted a Smithsonian WWII exhibit, is located at 936 Pearl Street, just behind the Court House in Franklinton, LA. Many items, from bottle openers and trays to signs and antique coolers, will be exhibited. Since Dr. John Pemberton of Atlanta GA sold his secret formula for Coca Cola in 1887, the company has produced a wide range of promotional items to advertise its product. In an age lacking the mass media of today, Coca Cola used a multitude of items to publicize their product, including trays, bottles, signs, toys, calendars and more that have become prized collectibles today. Several collectors in Washington Parish will be sharing their Coca-Cola treasures during the exhibit at the Varnado Store Museum. There will also be books available to visitors showing the value of antique Coca-Cola items. On Saturday the Coca Cola wagon will be on hand to serve this most popular drink, as well as several food items. The Museum will be open on Friday, August 23 by appointment only and open to the public on Saturday, August 24 from 10:00 to 4:00 and Sunday, August 25 from 1:00 to 5:00.
