    1. [lawestba] Meeting - Washington:
    2. Hello everyone. We have a slight change in plans for our February meeting. It seems that the Library will be closed (they have a holiday for Mardi Gras). But we still plan on having our meeting. Our meeting will be held at 5:30 at the Bogalusa YWCA building, which is immediately behind the Bogalusa Library. Programs for the year 2002 will be announced by Program Chairman Sylvia Smith. She has chosen a Washington Parish historical theme for the coming year. The Society is dedicated to preserving the history of the families of the Washington Parish area and has recently been selected by the Washington Parish fair Association to chair the Genealogy Exhibit Committee at the Fair in October. The program for this meeting will be the Washington Parish Fair Genealogy Project and will focus on plans for the exhibit for the October 2002 Fair. All families with a significant amount of information on their heritage are invited to submit their family name for consideration in this exhibit. Guidelines will be discussed. Please try to invite anyone that you may know that is interested in Genealogy and Family History to attend our meeting. I am planning on sending out cards or calling all members that I can about the change in this months meeting place, if you see any members or anyone interested in attending please tell them about it. See you at the meeting, Barbara

    3. Hi, List. I'm still looking for any information about the death/burial of my g-g-grandfather, died 1859 in West B. R. Parish. Even though he owned some property and made mortgages, married in the Catholic Church (Marie Aurore BABIN m. 1852) and had his 3 daughters baptized in the Church, I find no record of a death, or any burial information. Now, he was either a LOT older than Marie BABIN, and died timely, or he...fell in the river? He made a mortgage to buy a large piece of land in December, 1858 and was dead by February, 1859 (Public sale notice in the newspaper) and I have his Will and Succession documents, but no clue as to how/where he died or where he could be buried. Any ideas? I'm really at a loss. 3. Hi List Mom, I think that is a wonderful idea, my opinion only. After all, this genealogy thing is a shared experience, and takes a whole "village" to raise one successful amateur genealogist. I for one have been blessed with help from many web sites and would gladly share them with the list Keep up the good work Adrien PS I am a newcomer to this list, so am asking, is the list slow or have I been missing some posts? coupiq@home.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <CajinCoon@aol.com> To: <LAWESTBA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 11:09 PM Subject: [lawestba] List Mom Here > Hi List > How about once A month we list some genealogy webpage or site you like or a > genealogy mailing list that is helping you some . > > Louisiana Vital Records Information > http://vitalrec.com/la.html > > Charlotte Sehon > > > ==== LAWESTBA Mailing List ==== > Support the RootsWeb community. 2. Martha Hardcastle Guthrie
    3. Dear Patricia, Do you know Simeon's parents? I suspect that we are cousins - both my gg grandparents were first cousins and descendants of the Cajun pioneer couple Ambroise Bourg and Marie Modeste Moulaision. Their son Joseph married Marie LeBlanc and this couple had several daughters but the sons (with the Bourg name) were Joseph b. 1803, Charles Joseph b. 1807 who married his first cousin Adelaide Thibodeaux, Pierre Ambroise, who married Advelina Allain and Magloire (not sure if male or female) who married Appoline Trahan. My gg grandmother was their daughter and her name was Josephine. She married Adelaide Thibodeaux' brother Arcene. As you can see, my family tree doesn't fork! Have you tried St. John The Baptist Cemetery in West Baton Rouge? That is the most likely place. Where do you live?
