I am not specifically researching the surname Pagan, but I do have a lateral connection that I would like to pursue a bit further. I have a marriage between one Claud Pagan and Lucy Elledge, taking place in Webster Parish on 24 August 1906. Lucy was the daughter of Robert J. and Emma Collins Cobb Elledge. Emma was the widow of George A. Cobb, who was my grandfather's brother, thus the connection. George and Emma married about 1881, in Bowie Co, TX. They had two children ... George Lee Cobb and Nellie Augusta Cobb. George died in 1885, without ever seeing his daughter Nellie. Emma married Robert Elledge about 1886-87. Robert Elledge raised the two Cobb children. George Lee Cobb remained around SpringHill all his life and is buried there. His descendants are still in the area. Nellie married one George Kemper in 1905. I know she was still living in Webster Parish as late as 1943, but I cannot locate any descendants or even where she is buried. It is possible that Robert Elledge had also been married before. The 1900 census of Webster Parish shows a daughter Grace Elledge born 1885, in TX, that could not have been the chilld of Emma. Robert and Emma did have the following children ... Lucy b. 1888 in Arkansas, who married Claud Pagan ... Bessie b. 1890 in AR ... and twin daughters Dixie and Dollie b. 1899, in LA. All of these people can found be on the 1900 and 1910 census for Webster Parish. In 1920, Robert and Emma and the twin daughters were living in McCurtain Co, OK. Sometime between then and 1943, they moved back to Webster Parish. The only marriage records for any of the children that are in Webster Parish are those for the two Cobb children and Lucy Elledge who married Claud Pagan. The others apparently married in either OK or AR. I am especially interested in locating the descendants of Nellie Augusta Cobb who married George Kemper. If you happen to run across any of these names, I would appreciate hearing from you. If I come across any more Pagan info, I will post it to the Webster Parish List.
