My great grandfather, Allen E. Peavy, was born in Minden, Louisiana according to the family. His parents were Abram and Sarah Peavy who show up on the 1850 Bienville Parish, Louisiana census as Abram and Sarah Pevy, ages 20 and 17 respectively, occupation Farmer, unable to read or write. My grandfather was Hubert Peavy, his father was Allen E. Peavy and Hubert's grandfather was Abram Peavy (spelled Pevy on the census). I have been told that Abram was born in Alabama.
