    2. Hello, I have found that Vitals Records of New Orleans does an excellent job with death records. You say that you were born in Webster Parish, do you know the family church if so contacting them will help you very much. The cemetery lists that I have read are mainly old very old. Good luck, Carolyn Washington

    2. Spaniard
    3. Is it possible to search more recent times in this listing? My grandparents (of whom I have little geneological information) were buried in (I hope) Webster Parish. And I was born in Webster Parish. My grandfather, Charles Clifton Terry, died in August or September of 1977. His wife, my grandmother, Elvie Virginia Malone died in the early 1960s. I know that one isn't much to go on. Could someone search the cemetary listings (or post a link to the Webster Parish cemetaries). Also, how much trouble will I need to go through to get copies of their death certificates from Baton Rouge? Thanks Tinker Strother

    1. Bellvue cemetery in Bossier parish
    2. I am trying to find the place of burial for my gr.gr.grandpa's sister. She was named Mary Jane Toms and married a Daniel J. Henderson in Bossier parish in 1857. I realize this is not Webster parish but I could not find a place to send for Bossier parish and with Bellvue right close to the line I decided to take a shot. Daniel Henderson was a Methodist preacher and Mary Jane died about 1862-1865 while they were living at Bellvue. Is there a cemetery near there [maybe even a methodist church cemetery] that was in existence around that time? I would like very much to find this gravesite and also get an exact date of birth. Any help appreciated

    3. >From another list: Hi everyone! As we all are basking in our new-found resources ALL of which are made possible for us through the courtesy of RootsWeb I thought there was something that is going on right now behind the scenes at RootsWeb that you all should know about this holiday season. Palladium Software, a major sponsor of Rootsweb was recently bought by another company. (The LEarning CO.) As a result it would appear that they have dropped their sponsorship of Rootsweb. Karen Isaacson and Brian Leverich (owners of Rootsweb) have had to take out a large personal loan to make ends meet at Rootsweb as a result. So please consider becoming a member of Rootsweb and support them monetarily if at all possible. 2. I am not specifically researching the surname Pagan, but I do have a lateral connection that I would like to pursue a bit further. I have a marriage between one Claud Pagan and Lucy Elledge, taking place in Webster Parish on 24 August 1906. Lucy was the daughter of Robert J. and Emma Collins Cobb Elledge. Emma was the widow of George A. Cobb, who was my grandfather's brother, thus the connection. George and Emma married about 1881, in Bowie Co, TX. They had two children ... George Lee Cobb and Nellie Augusta Cobb. George died in 1885, without ever seeing his daughter Nellie. Emma married Robert Elledge about 1886-87. Robert Elledge raised the two Cobb children. George Lee Cobb remained around SpringHill all his life and is buried there. His descendants are still in the area. Nellie married one George Kemper in 1905. I know she was still living in Webster Parish as late as 1943, but I cannot locate any descendants or even where she is buried. It is possible that Robert Elledge had also been married before. The 1900 census of Webster Parish shows a daughter Grace Elledge born 1885, in TX, that could not have been the chilld of Emma. Robert and Emma did have the following children ... Lucy b. 1888 in Arkansas, who married Claud Pagan ... Bessie b. 1890 in AR ... and twin daughters Dixie and Dollie b. 1899, in LA. All of these people can found be on the 1900 and 1910 census for Webster Parish. In 1920, Robert and Emma and the twin daughters were living in McCurtain Co, OK. Sometime between then and 1943, they moved back to Webster Parish. The only marriage records for any of the children that are in Webster Parish are those for the two Cobb children and Lucy Elledge who married Claud Pagan. The others apparently married in either OK or AR. I am especially interested in locating the descendants of Nellie Augusta Cobb who married George Kemper. If you happen to run across any of these names, I would appreciate hearing from you. If I come across any more Pagan info, I will post it to the Webster Parish List. Thanks, Mike Cobb ... mcbb1@aol.com ... Ft Worth, TX.

    3. I am a new subscriber to Webster Co List. Am seeking information concerning Margaret Jane COX, b. 1836, MS; married Calvin H. LEWIS 1857, MS. Margaret was relocated to South Arkansas by her husband, who then went off to the Civil War and was killed in the Battle of Franklin, TN., leaving Margaret with four daughters (all the children I know of). After several of the daughters were grown and married, Margaret married John M. PAGAN, a widower then living near Margaret in Bradley Co, AR. Several years later, one of Margaret's daughters (Winifred) married Price Pagan, a son of John M. Pagan. It is believed that Price Pagan and Winifred resided in or near Springhill, Webster Co, LA and that, late in life, Margaret also resided with them, died there, and is buried in Springbranch Cemetery (?). I have no info as to what happened to John M. Pagan. Am seeking descendants of Margaret and her daughters, or anyone who might have information concerning same. Can anyone help? Larry
