    3. You might also consider checking out the genealogy section of the Webster Parish Library. Shouldn't take long to do that. It is new and small. Probably won't find anything, but one never knows until you look. When you enter the library, you go straight past the main desk (to the right side) and the genealogy room is on the right. I find it interesting that there is not yet a genealogy society group in Minden. Good success in your research. 3. Absolutely! We researched there last year. The records are very mixed up in the old land and court records and probates. You really have to dig. Wear old clothes because it is dirty work. Try not to bother the clerks. They will allow you to copy your own material and then pay at the end of your work. Lots to find too! If you find anything new on Pockrus, let me know. Found them in the land and probate books, but we need to go back. Helene Suzanne wrote: > > Posted on: Webster Parish, La. 2. J Perilloux
    3. Prudent B. Cambre, a native of Reserve, LA in St. John Parish, has been researching the Cambre family for many years. Michel Cambre and Mathias Cambre, natives of Germany, settled in St John Parish in the mid-1750s. Cambre family members can be found today in many parishes throughout Louisiana and in several other states. Prudent is planning on publishing a book on the Cambre family early next year and realizes that there is much information he doesn't have because of the fact that the family has spread far and wide. He is inviting anyone who has family information to provide it so that he can include it in the book. If you have information that you would like to submit, you can e-mail it to me at Jperilloux@home.com and I'll forward it to Prudent, or you can snail mail it to: P.B. Cambre 2509 Broadmoor Drive Bryan, TX 77802 Since Prudent is 90 years old and he plans on starting publication early next year, time is of the essence. 3. Well, I figure since there are probably some new listmembers since the last time I posted my surname list, I'll just throw them out there again and see if someone has information on any of them. My paternal surnames are: WILKINS, LOCKEY, HOOKER, URQUHART, FLOYD. They were in LA, GA, AR, AL, TX, NC, that I know of. Occasionally, I have found my WILKINS spelled as WILKENS in some records, especially in Texas. My maternal surnames are: METHVIN, MURPHY, BYRD or BIRD, HUGGINS. They were primarily in TX and LA and GA, that I know of. At this point, they could have been anywhere since I have so very little information about any of these names. Anyone have any information about these names, just email me, maybe we'll find a conncection!!!! Thanks, Brenda Wilkins Hudson

    3. I apologize for sending this email to all the genealogy lists. It was not intentional. I have a rolodex where I can "select all" to send emails to my friends, which is what I did. Unfortunately, I forgot that I had added the address to the genealogy lists to which I subscribe just this past weekend, so the lists got the email by mistake. Again, I apologize. I have just removed all lists from that particular file so this will not happen again. Sorry. Brenda

PLEASE read this through. GORDON -----Original Message----- Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 1999 1:55 PM Subject: Dear Jane! Looks like Hanoi Jane may be honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century". JANE FONDA remembered? Unfortunately many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our "country" but the men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam. There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Jane Fonda's participation in what I believe to be blatant treason, is one of them. Part of my conviction comes from exposure to those who suffered her attentions. The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1978, the Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a former POW in Ho Lo Prison-the "Hanoi Hilton". Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJs, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward upon the camp Commandant's feet, accidentally pulling the man's shoe off-which sent that officer berserk. In '78, the AF Col still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying days) from the Vietnamese Col's frenzied application of wooden baton. >From 1983-85, Col Larry Carrigan was the 347FW/DO (F-4Es). He' spent 6 years in the "Hilton", the first three of which he was "missing in action". His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned/fed/clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit. They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his SSN on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge...and handed him the little pile. Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Col Carrigan was almost number four. For years after their release, a group of determined former POWs Including Col Carrigan, tried to bring Ms. Fonda and others up on charges of treason. I don't know that they used it, but the charge of "Negligent Homicide due to Depraved Indifference" would also seem appropriate. Her obvious "granting of aid and comfort to the enemy", alone, should've been sufficient for the treason count. However, to date, Jane Fonda has never been formally charged with anything and continues to enjoy the privileged life of the rich and famous. I, personally, think that this is shame on us, the American Citizenry. Part of our shortfall is ignorance: most don't know such actions ever took place. Thought you might appreciate the knowledge. Most of you've probably already seen this by now... only addition I might add to these sentiments is to remember the satisfaction of relieving myself into the urinal at some airbase or another where "zaps" of Hanoi Jane's face had been applied. To whom it may concern: I was a civilian economic development advisor in Viet Nam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Viet Nam in1968, and held for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement, one year in a cage in Cambodia, and one year in a "black box" in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a femal missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, SouthVietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I was weighing approximately 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.) We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals." When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with Jane Fonda. I said yes, for I would like to tell her about the real treatment we POWs were receiving, which was far different from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by Jane Fonda, as "humane and lenient." Because of this, I spent three dayson a rocky floor on my knees with outstretched arms with a piece of steel placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane every time my arms dipped. I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda for a couple of hours after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She did not answer me, her husband, Tom Hayden, answered for her. She was mind controlled by her husband. This does not exemplify someone who should be honored as "100 Years of Great Women." After I was released, I was asked what I thought of Jane Fonda and the anti-war movement. I said that I held Joan Baez's husband in very high regard, for he thought the war was wrong, burned his draft card and went to prison in protest. If the other anti-war protesters took this same route, it would have brought our judicial system to a halt and ended the war much earlier, and there wouldn't be as many on that somber black granite wall called the Vietnam Memorial. This is democracy. This is the American way. Jane Fonda, on the other hand, chose to be a traitor, and went to Hanoi, wore their uniform, propagandized for the communists, and urged American soldiers to desert. As we were being tortured, and some of the POWs murdered, she called us liars. After her heros-the North Vietnamese communists-took over South Vietnam, they systematically murdered 80,000 South Vietnamese political prisoners. May their souls rest on her head forever. Shame! Shame! ( History is a heavy sword in the hands of those who refuse to forget it. Think of this the next time you see Ms. Fonda-Turner at a Braves game). Please take the time to read and forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer and she needs to know that "we will never forget". Lest we forget... "100 years of great women" Jane Fonda should never be considered. ==== TENNESSEE Mailing List ==== Search the Archives for past messages to the Tennessee List http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl --------------3891C481A5105197F38818BE--

    1. [LAWEBSTE-L] Surname WILKINS
    2. Brenda Hudson
    3. I checked my mail and finally received the for SS-5, Application for Social Security Account, on my great-uncle Earnie Wilkins. He died in the mid 1960's, and was my only relative in my grandfather's generation I had hopes of finding documentation to provide my great-grandparents info. My grandfather was John William Wilkins. This is what I know: John William WILKINS was supposedly born somewhere in GA, possibly Chattooga Co. in about 1879. He had brothers Earnie Wilkins, Dock Wilkins, and Pete Wilkins, that I know of. John William WILKINS died in Bossier Parish, LA in 1927 at the age of 48 years leaving a wife MARY LORENE LOCKEY WILKINS and 6 children. Dock Wilkins was unknown to me, he did marry and his wife was buried somewhere in Arkansas. Dock later ended up in Bossier Parish LA where he apparently died because he is buried in Rocky Mount Cemetery in Bossier Parish next to his brother, John William WILKINS. I originally knew nothing at all about Pete Wilkins. My father (youngest child of John William WILKINS and Mary Lorene LOCKEY WILKINS) died on Sept. 16, 1999 and after the funeral I was talking with my cousin, his sister's daughter. I then learned that Peter WILKINS lived in the Lufkin, TX area. That is how my aunt met her husband, Archie Avery Crawford and ended up in the Dallas, TX area the duration of her married life. She had gone to Uncle Peter's in the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area for a visit and met Archie Crawford at that time. Peter WILKINS (called Uncle Pete by some of the family) had a son named Roy WILKINS and possibly another son? named L.J. WILKINS. I think Roy WILKINS wife was named Mindy WILKINS and that Roy & Mindy had a daughter named Evaline (sp?) WILKINS. After reading the SS-5 I just received today on Earnie WILKINS, the following information was obtained: Earnie WILKINS applied for a social security number on August 23, 1937. At that time he was living in Arkansas, I am unable to make out the city. It looks like it says Ehreat or Chuat or Ehrent or something along that line. It is clear, but the handwriting is in script, not printed, thus hard to make out. Another entry on the form asks for his business name of present employer. It says Memphis _____ ______ Co. The two blanks are clear, but unreadable. The first word starts with an N. It could be Nat. (an abbreviated name or just Nat or Not. The 2nd word could be absolutely anything. It starts with possibly a G or a B and seems to have 3 or 4 letters. The next line asks for the business address of present employer. It says Memphis _____. The Memphis is very clear, the next word could be ANYTHING!. It could be "Tenn". It could be "Drive", it is very very difficult to read this person's handwriting. Per this form, Earnie Wilkins was age 49 at his last b'day prior to applying for the form and his date of birth is Dec. 15, 1887. According to this form his place of birth is ______, Ala. This city or county could be Check, Eheck, Cheek. It appears to have 5 letters, possibly 6. The second letter is definitely an "h". If it does have 6 letters, then the last letter is an "s", but I really think it only has 5 letters and ends in a "k" or an "h". It lists his father as "Dock Wilkins" and his mother as "Fannie Floyd". Those at least are very clear. About a year or so ago, I spoke with a local historian here in Bossier Parish with access to GA census records and he found a Dock Wilkins born in Chatooga Co, GA about 1858. At that time I was searching for the brother of John William Wilkins (Dock) not the father with the same name. With an 1858 est. birthday, I knew that he had found possibly my great-grandfather rather than my grandfather's brother. I now have confirmation that my great-grandfather was also Dock Wilkins. If anyone out there has access to any of the following, would you mind searching for my ancestors? WILKINS, Dock, Sr. in Ala., Ark. Ga. TN WILKINS, Fannie Floyd in Ala. Ark. Ga Tn WILKINS, Earnie in Tn, Ark, Ala, GA WILKINS, Pete or Peter in TN, Ark, Ala, Ga. Tx WILKINS, John William in ARk, LA, TX, Ala, GA, TN Any help will be appreciated. I had hoped to get this before my Daddy died, but that was just not meant to be. As I said, any and all assistance will be gratefully accepted. Sincerely, Brenda Wilkins Hudson copskid@bellsouth.net

>> Could this maybe be Memphis Natural Gas Co.?
