Posted on: Webster Parish, La. Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/La/Webster/397 Surname: Doyle, Hudson ------------------------- Seeking information on my gggrandparents Elijah Hudson (b. April 1794, Tn. - d. March 20, 1870, Boosier Parrish, La.) married Sarah Elizabeth Doyle (b. June 1833, Tn. - d. after 1900, Davilla, Milam County, Tx.) Elijah Hudson purchased land from the Government Land Office in Boosier (now in Webster) Parrish in 1849 and in 1860. I have a copy of his obituary (newspaper not known) which refers to him as Col.Elijah Hudson, says he volunteered under the immortal Jackson, was in Capt. Bill Chism's company and was a native of eastern Tennessee. The obituary also says, "He was married three times, and now leaves a widow comparatively young. Yet the mother of seven children and five of them small and five of them girls, and with but limited means of support." Sarah Doyle Hudson moved with some of her children to Davilla, Milam County, Texas during the 1870's. She is buried in the Davilla Cemetary. Any information on the Hudsons or Doyles would be greatly appreciated. Joe Kornegay

Posted on: Webster Parish, La. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Webster/392 Surname: Arthur ------------------------- Noticed your message from back in Feb. 1999 mentioning an ancestor of yours marrying a Mary Jane Arthur. In looking for my La. Arthurs have located two Arthur Families in Claiborne Parish in the 1860 census. One on page 700.gif which is my great great grandfather and family, located near the Flat Lick P.O. Flat Lick was between Minden and Homer. The other, a Phillip Arthur on page 747.gif (Homer survey area)has a 15 year old female, initials M.J. which may be the Martha Jane you are looking for, although it shows her born in Miss. Phillip may be the brother of T.R. (Thomas Rhodes Arthur). I do not know that. Per the La. enlistment records that I have found, TR had three sons in the 17th La. Reg. and Phillip had two. Four of them enrolled on the same day, same location. Hope this is of help to you and perhaps you have some Arthur info. that you could pass on to me. I can't find the parents of TR, supposedly born in Ga., birth date of 1-1-1813 and buried in Smith Co. Tx, d 5-21-1873. Thanks, Bob Arthur
