I do know that William H. Mathis was the brother to John Tyler Mathis and he married Dorothy Jane Deason. This is what Harvey said: "I know their were two Bill Mathis's in Pitkin. William H. Mathis was known as "Straight Bill" and William L. Mathis, who stuttered was known as "Stuttering Bill". This the way the people in the town differentiated the two. Not sure of Suttering Bill's lineage line, but I believe I have a contact that can clue me in. In Pitkin, there lives a Sam Matthis whose lineage derives from Stuttering Bill. I have tried to catch him at home, to discuss how Straight Bill and Stuttering Bill are related. If I find out something as to that, I will let you know. I talked with some people that were descendants of Parvin Mathis, son of Straight Bill and they tell me that Stuttering Bill and Straight Bill were first cousins. But I still don't know where Stuttering Bill's family line comes in yet. I am still digging." Harvey tells me that the father of William H was Matthew Albritton Mathis. John Tyler Mathis was also the son of Matthew Albritton Mathis. He didn't know the lineage of William T (your William), but if you want to email me privately, I can give you Harvey's email.
