Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EEB.2ACE/825 Message Board Post: For those who may be doing Westmoreland research: The name of G.W.Westmoreland (1832-1906) appears on a monument to veterans at the Court House, Franklinton, Washington Parish, LA. Three other Westmorelands are also mentioned: James, Jesse, and Oliver P. George was born in St. Helena, also lived in Livingston Parish, and later moved to Vernon where he is buried at the Pine Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. He served in Co. B, 9th Battalion of the LA Infantry, CSA. The Westmoreland family has been traced back to King Edward I of England. His daughter, Mary Elizabeth, married Calvin Green Carver, son of Robert Wm. and Sarah Ann Russell Carver. Belford Carver, Hammond, LA bcarver@i-55.com
