Matthis aka stuttering Bill of Pitkin Louisiana. I am the daughter of Samuel W. Matthis (Sam) of Ptikin Louisiana. My father Sam is the son of Andrew J Matthis & Dora T Matthis, my grandfather Andrew is the only son of Martin C. Matthis & Allie Fair Matthis, my gggrandfather Martin is the son of William L. Matthis and Jane Gill. Although I have no answer for the spelling (1 T or 2) I know that all of head stones in our family plot including William L Matthis is listed with 2 T's.
