B., lst Regiment (Colquitt's) Arkansas Infantry, CSA, in Little Rock. TJH appeared in Alexandria (Rapides Parish), La. in July, 1867 when he applied for marriage documents to wed Rachel Bailey Foster. He may have been previously married and had a daughter named Lucy who was as shown on the 1880 census as being born in LA abt 1862. This family was living in Vernon Parish as shown on the 1900 and 1910 cenus. TJ died in 1910 and is buriend in Blackjack Cemetery. DOB shown on tombstone as 1820. Children of Thomas Jefferson HUGHES and Rachel Foster Bailey were: He fathered 6 children with Rachel who lived to adulthood. They were: Frances, William Preston, Thomas E., Arthur Monroe (M.D.), James Russell, and Maggie.
