I suggest you go back to Vermillion Parish and check the census there for the names you list. My Whites are included in the 1850 census, Simon and Nancy Vaughn. Good luck, I'll keep your query and will be in touch if anything turns up.

I cannot find her forbears. She married Edward Huff 23 October 1872. I'm not having any luck determining any other significant events in her life. She probably lived in Vermilion Parish for most of it. She's indexed in the 1870 LA census, unusual given that she was surely not a head of household at that age, but I haven't looked at the actual census data yet; that's on my list of things to do. She doesn't seem to belong to any other Haners I could locate in Louisiana. Any leads much appreciated! Orin Hargraves

Can you tell me who the father of Joseph Labauve was? Are you and your family in any way related to Father John Labauve, a priest at St Marys,in Galveston, Texas? That is a stupid question in away, all LABAUVES are somehow related. I would love to exchange emails with you and ask some more questions, if you would permit me to. My email address is :wal37lace@aol.com and also at: wallace.rodriguez@attbi.com. Once again thank you, as I stated before, all information that I can gather puts me one step closer to my ancestors. So any thing else that you might be able to share with me please do.

I found it very interesting that this website contains many of the small communities (vellages) that my father use to tell us kids (17 in all) many years ago. He was born around the Prairie Greig area (now Henry) in 1884 and use to travel the parish quite abit as a young lad. While Broussard Cove is not listed in the website, I recollect Dad referring to Mr Broussard's plantation in Bruce's Cove, a bend in the Vermilion Bayou between Abbeville & Milton, near the Woodlawn settlement, where friends gathered. I have another website with small forgotten vellages in South Louisiana if anyone is interested.
